Crime down but we still need to take care

Across Cheadle, Gatley and Heald Green crime is down about 20% from 2009 to 2010, which is great news and equates to over 500 fewer victims of crime, including 483 fewer victims of anti-social behaviour.

But the work goes on.  In particular, Inspector Gilbertson asked people to think about what they leave in their gardens – lots of people leave things that could easily be used by burglars to help them break into houses such as tools or ladders, or sheds are left open.

Burglary is down in our area, but by 7% as opposed to 24% across Stockport as a whole, so the message is not to make life easy for burglars.

Burglary may be down, but, what about vandalism ? As one mentioned on a previous piece – why are householders in this area so stupid as to leave loose rocks or even bricks, not to mention all that loose gravel on their driveways in easy reach of passing ‘hands’ ?
Oneself has suffered broken windows three times in the last nine years – all the ‘ammo’ coming from others property, all the ‘aggro’ coming from (methinks) council estate (withy) scum.

A rather unpleasant and offensive broadbrush reference to folk who live in social housing from you, Mr Taggart.

Mr Taggart – I’d suggest you stop digging the increasing deep hole you’re finding yourself in with your choice of language.

Encouraging results. Perhaps the police can look into spending more time booking motorists cuTting through the South Park Estate. It would be nbice also, if the highways cleaned the mess from the road and pavement at the building site on the Kingsway stretch of the South Park.

Children , Children, why do some refer to irresponsible people that break windows and cause other damage to property as scum? they are just unfortunate people that do not fully understand the consequence of their actions and they do not all come from social housing, if there was a much harsher punishment when caught, maybe their brain would kick in.What we need is to be installed in our brain at a very early age and reinforced thereafter the difference between right and wrong or else the very strictest punishment.Bring back the good old days.

Where have our 15 police officers gone, Iain?

As far as I know, they’ve gone to higher crime areas around Greater Manchester, so places like Oldham have gained more officers.
