Missed bins in Stockport due to strikes? What to do next

by Lib Dem team on 1 December, 2011

Because of the strikes on 30th November, a lot of the bins due for collection in the Cheadle area weren’t collected.

The following press release has today been published on the Council’s public web-site:

Due to the strike action there was disruption to the scheduled waste and recycling collection service on Wednesday 30th November.

Residents whose bins were not collected are advised to return them to their property and put them out on their next collection date as detailed below;

– For green bins this will be Wednesday 7th December.
– For blue bins this will be Wednesday 14th December, excess paper/card/cartons* placed by the side of the blue bins in boxes or sacks will be collected.
– For black bins this will be Wednesday 14th December, excess waste* placed by the side of the black bins in tied sacks will be collected.
– For brown bins this will be Saturday 10th December. No excess will be taken at this collection

* Note – excess will be collected on this one occasion only.

    We already have a problem with the black bin. It stinks and the foxes have been at it. Therefore, it would be a health hazard to leave it by our back door. We are now having to take bags of rubbish to the tip, as to leave it for 4 weeks is completely unacceptable.

    Hi Karen,

    That’s fair enough – I’ll probably visit the tip myself with some things. Obviously, this is only an issue because of the day of strikes and not something Stockport Council want to see!

    Its good that we can put excess out and I support the strikers aims, so its a small price to pay anyway.

    er that should read excess – damn spell checker!
