Inspector Steve Gilbertson gave us an update on crime around the area. The good news is that – for the most part – crime continues to fall. Metal thefts, shoplifting and theft of vehicle registration plates remains a concern. Business Watch in Cheadle and Gatley is proving successful, with businesses sharing more information on shoplifters.
These figures compare the 10.5 months from April 2010 to February 2011 with the same period a year later – April 2011 to February 2012 (i.e. the year to date).

Most of these figures show crime continuing to fall (the exception being burglaries in Heald Green).
