Runway 1 at Manchester Airport will be closed overnight from Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th March 2012, with runway 2 being used for all flights.

As the airport website says:

During March 2012 we are carrying out some maintenance to the Runway 1 (Runway 23R/05L) western taxiways. The programme includes work on one of the Rapid Exit Taxiways that adjoins Runway 1 and so it would not be safe use the Runway whilst we are working so close to it. Runway 1 will therefore need to be closed for two nights to complete these taxiway works.

Runway 2(Runway 23L/05R) will be used as the sole runway between 21:30 hrs Monday 12th and 06:30 hrs Tuesday 13th March and again between 21:30 hrs Tuesday 13th and 06:30 hrs Wednesday 14th March 2012. Normal operations will be restored between 06:30 and 21:30 hrs on Tuesday 13th March. As always, the prevailing weather conditions will determine in which direction aircraft will take-off and land.
