Following complaints about blocked gullies, the Lib Dems have been working on a scheme to get them sorted on Hall Street and Ernest Street in Cheadle, and on some other roads with a similar problem.

Because these roads are constantly parked up, gully cleaning is very difficult – the people come along with their machines but if the gully is under a parked car, they can’t physically get to it. On most roads, that might happen from time to time, but on some it happens almost every time, with the result that the gullies never get cleared.

The solution is to pick a day where signs are put up in advance telling people not to park on the road, just for that day. The gullies can then be properly cleared in one go.

For Hall Street and Ernest Street, the first proper clean is scheduled for late spring/summer this year.
