Woodford Garden Village: draft planning document

The first draft of the Woodford Garden Village SPD (Supplementary Planning Document) has been published by Stockport Council – all 388 pages of it!

This SPD  has not yet been approved by the Council and still has to go to Scrutiny and the Executive where it could be amended.  In September, it it will go to public consultation and residents – particularly those in Woodford itself – will have the opportunity over several weeks to meet with Council officers, discuss the SPD and submit comments.

The SPD is a Council document.  Taking into account the development proposals on the table, but not exclusively addressing them, it guides any potential developer as to what sort of development is acceptable in planning terms on the site.  From a developer’s point of view, a final, agreed and approved SPD allows them to work up a planning proposal with confidence that it meets the Council’s planning requirements.

Below is the first draft document. And just to repeat, this has not yet been agreed or consulted on: before it becomes a final SPD it will be discussed by councillors (several times) and go out to public consultation over a period of several weeks.
