Over the last few years millions of pounds have been spent on conservation work around Stockport Marketplace and Underbanks. Here are some photos that shows what been done, including some “before” photos.

Note the social housing apartments right on the marketplace, and their private courtyards – not a million miles away from the private courtyards you would have seen here in medieval times.
