School open days have certainly changed since I was young. Students and staff at The Kingsway School deserve a big thank you for the excellent afternoon they put on for the year six children who’ll be moving up next year.
Kingsway’s a big school – 1500 pupils spread over two sites with a busy dual carriageway running down the middle: potentially pretty intimidating when you’ve come from a much smaller primary school.
But the primary school children were made to feel more than welcome with, among other things, the chance to ice cakes, get a peronalised key-ring, watch dance and drama displays, explore the library, win prizes for maths quizzes and a good deal more.
The Kingsway School does a fantastic job of not only educating our young people, but making everyone coming into the school age 11 feel very welcome.
