Cheadle Post Office & WH Smith opening on 25th July

by Lib Dem team on 2 June, 2014

A new Cheadle Post Office will be opening on 25th July, in the same location as the current one but it promises to be very different – open plan and the first to combine with a WH Smith.

We spoke to new Postmaster Andrew Phipson about the venture.

The Post Office will be staying in its current location as residents and people alike know exactly where it is. What I wanted to do is also build on this dedicated customer base by bringing new customers into the village to show what else Cheadle has to offer.

When I was looking at the gaps in Cheadle’s retail proposition the one area that stood out was the absence of a high quality stationers so that was was the main reason for working with the biggest brand in the UK.

This is a totally new concept for this kind of business and am very proud that Cheadle will be the first of it’s kind in the North West to showcase it. The advertising and interest from everywhere else in the UK will be extremely positive and will help in making Cheadle WHSmith Local Post Office a success.

I have worked for the Post Office for 18 years and know how extremely important it is to the everyday lives of local people. I want with this project to not only bring Cheadle Post Office into the modern age but to secure its future for years to come. The products and services that are now available at the post office will help considerably towards this goal.

Over the next few months the Post Office will launch it’s very own current account that will enable customers to carry out the local, trusted banking services that they deserve.

After years of banking bad press, I will be able to offer an alternative that will give customers a real choice to how they conduct their banking needs.

This will give the residents of Cheadle confidence that their Post Office will be around for years to come and I will be working closely with them in giving them the products and the services that they want.
One of the ways the improvements at Cheadle Post Office will be improved is the communication methods.

Customers will be able to leave their feedback, ideas and opinions by accessing their Cheadle Post Office through a variety of social media sites that include Facebook and Twitter. These will be made available after launch.
This will give everyone the opportunity to have direct access to their branch and be able to leave their thoughts and opinions.

I couldn’t agree more about a lack of good stationers in Cheadle. So I am really looking forward to using the WH Smith as well as the Post Office. I really do hope that it goes well.

    This is good news.
Any chance that WH Smith and/or others could remedy the curved parking area outside the post office….to turn it into some decent, easy to park in, 11605bays?…with 20 minutes limit.

All Cheadle ‘High Street’ needs now be more decent shops – housed in decent buildings !
Cheadle ‘High Street’ – all the grace of a shanty town – in a supposedly respectable neighbourhood !!
