Gatley Post Office move to go ahead on 12th September

by Iain Roberts on 2 July, 2014

The Post Office have confirmed to us that the proposal to move Gatley Post Office from its current location next door into the Newsagents will be going ahead.

The old Post Office will close at 5.30pm on Thursday 11th September 2014, with the new one opening at 1pm on Friday 12th September.

The Newsagents will have a refit and internal redesign as part of the move. Access will be provided for disabled customers (a portable ramp along with a bell on the outside of the shop).

The opening hours of the new Post Office branch will be:

  • Monday – Saturday 7am – 6pm
  • Sunday 7am – 12.30pm

So much for consultation – always knew it was a done deal – they just have to go through the motions !
We can but hope the Newsagents will ‘up their game’ and not be the miserable place it has been since the year dot !

Agree with Roberts Comments on Upping their Game ,delighted to hear that the staff are retaining their jobs but they need to go on a customer relation course and change the feel of the Post office from that of a Mortuary to a place you want to shop.

I have always found the staff in the Post Office more than helpful. I wish David well in his retirement.

I too have always found the staff very friendly and yes the shop does look a bit dated but nothing a spruce up will quickly fix
