Stockport Lib Dem budget proposals 2015-17

by Lib Dem team on 4 August, 2014

Stockport Lib Dems have published the first chunk of our budget proposals for 2015-17, covering the vast majority of the £39.5 million savings Stockport Council needs to find over the next two years.

The budget will be finally decided at the Budget Full Council meeting in Feburary – more than six months away. By publishing our proposals now, we want to give everyone as much chance as possible to look at our ideas and – if you want – suggest changes.

Local Council budgets have to balance – that means if want to spend more in one area, we have to spend less in another so it all adds up.

Below are three documents:

  • A cover sheet with some brief commentary on the proposals
  • High-level details of all the proposals and the Investing in Stockport programme
  • A summary sheet with the numbers

In addition to these, each saving area comes with a business case – a more detailed document explaining what the change will mean, how we will consult on it and all the additional information required. Those are available from the Council on request.

No. 4.11 is about the way the Council pays SSK. There’s been no discussion or suggestion of raising allotment rents that I’m aware of.
