We dealt with this in Northern Ireland by making criminals of people who comitted these atrocities, rather than giving them an air of legitimacy by calling them soldiers in a political struggle. The first police officer that was killed by these barbarians was a muslim and now I hear of the bravery of a young Malian Muslim in saving the lives of many people in the jewish supermarket hostage situation. Indeed humanity needs to come together and refuse to let those that seek to divide us speak for us.

A good start would be for the Muslim faith to publicly and officially disown ‘Jihad’ and the practice of killing non-believers (or ‘infidels’) in their faith. Other changes would be welcome too (abandon Sharia Law?) so that every one can see that they are serious about wishing to live in our community in friendship and peace.

jb – the local Cheadle Muslim Association have done that time and again, along with working to build links with the community (for example, exchange visits to churches and the Yeshurun synagogue).

Thank you for this post. These murders were not muslims and their actions do no represent the beliefs of the muslim faith just as the Klu Klux Klan carrying crosses do not represent the Christian faith.

These actions are not motivated by islamic beliefs but to cause division and hatred.

True reflections of islamic beliefs are those unnoticed heroes who give their wealth and time to help others. True muslims focus their time on helping the poor, destitute and starving in the UK, Syria and Gaza – not on cartoons.
