Graham Greenhalgh supports Gatley litter pick

by Iain Roberts on 30 March, 2015

Lib Dem local election candidate Graham Greenhalgh was out to support the Gatley Village Partnership litter pick last Sunday. The litter pickers braved the rain to clear Old Hall Road and the path alongside the Tatton site before working up Church Road and round the car park by the Co-op.

“I’d like to thank Gatley Village Partnership for organising this litter pick.” Graham said. “It makes a real difference to the appearance of the village. Hopefully the next one will be a little drier.”

It would help greatly if the two local schools drummed it into their pupils that dropping litter is antisocial. When asked politely to remove their litter most pupils lift it and drop it a few paces away. It certainly looks as though they breakfast on the hoof rather than at home which is probably the underlying reason for the litter. .It is counterproductive to lift other people’s litter. They should be shamed into dropping it in the first place. Littering does not happen in most civilized countries;….

Since Tesco Express opened up on Church Road the litter from the store to the junction at Styal Road/Park Road has been terrible.
