Stepping Hill specialism welcomed as Wythenshawe keeps services

by Lib Dem team on 15 August, 2015

Keith Holloway has welcomed the announcement in July that Stepping Hill Hospital will be one of four Greater Manchester centres providing specialist 24/7 services, especially for urgent abdominal surgery, and that Wythenshawe will not lose any of its current specialist services.

“Along with the confirmation of Stepping Hill earlier this year as the third major stroke centre, I believe Stepping Hill will now develop as a major specialist centre for Stockport, Tameside and surrounding areas in High Peak and Cheshire East.” Keith said.

Patients from Cheadle, Gatley and Heald Green going to Wythenshawe are unaffected. All existing emergency departments remain as do specialist services such as the Cardiac Centre at Wythenshawe.

The real challenge is to ensure that people don’t have unnecessary visits to an emergency department or be admitted.

Keith says “A report by Stockport Healthwatch has yet again highlighted the problems many people still have getting a timely appointment to see their GP. Let me know your experiences to help me to continue to press for improvements and greater collaboration between hospitals and community health and social care. “

It is obvious that you have not grasped the situation correctly. What is the point of going to wythenshaw ae only to be told that there is nothing that can be done because acute has been closed.
That is not to mention the 22 million who use Manchester airport? Or have you backed the wrong horse
