Cheadle Area Committee report back 10th November 2015

by Lib Dem team on 10 November, 2015

A fairly quick Cheadle Area Committee meeting this evening.

  • Cllr John Pantall presented a petition calling for the Sim Chem building in Cheadle Hulme to be brought back into productive use.
  • 5th Cheadle Hulme Scouts and First Steps Orrishmere Charity Pre-school were given £1,000 towards new toilets.
  • Walter Stansby Memorial Park were given £1,000 towards new pea lights.
  • Planning application 59483 – further details of the proposal to build around 150 houses on land off Europa Way – was recommended for approval (it goes to the full Planning and Highways Committee for a final decision).
  • We discussed Brookfield Shiers Family Trust – the investment fund the councillors look after. We are expecting a report on how to allocate £25,000 to help elderly people. We decided not to allocate any more funds for general application as we already have a fair amount available and not enough applications to use it up.
  • We approved proposals for single yellow lines along part of Carrs Road, and double yellow lines around the junction of Carrs Road with St Davids/Carrs Avenue and St Margaret’s Road.
  • We approved plans for double yellow lines at the junction of Twining Brook Road and Edenbridge Road, Cheadle Hulme.
  • We approved a proposal for a loading bay outside the funeral directors on Silverdale Road, Gatley
  • We approved the Cheadle Victorian Christmas Makers Market application (the market will be on 5th December).
  • We approved a proposal from St Cuthbert’s Church for a “Nativity in the Park” event on 24th December.
  • We agreed to go ahead with a disabled parking space on Branksome Drive, Heald Green.

Iain, can someone look at the parking on Milton Crescent please?
Since lines have been put down on Warren Ave, the parking issue has just moved one round down and people park on both sides now, as far as the Chadvil junction.
Last week I had two near misses as I waited at the bottom of Milton at Gatley Rd for cars to come down and was nearly rear-ended by other cars turning in behind me.

You really must check the source of your information….or do you always act on gossip.

I now know who objected to the Residents only Parking scheme on Warren Avenue….it was “disgruntled” from Milton.

It would be far better to deal with the problem of all day parking in the village rather than NIMBY!

  2. Janet holmes says:

Thank you Mr. Gent for the news about lines on Warren Avenue…..the issues on your road are not as a result of lines here…how we wish it was!

  3. Kath hallworth says:

    Hi Alan,

What lines are you referring to on warren? We only have the old driveway protection lines and they have been down at least 10 years.

    Many thanks,

    Kath

Oops sorry ladies, wonder where they’re coming from then? There’s certainly an increase on Milton. I actually don’t live on Milton, but you know, I’m terribly community spirited!
