Keep track of Stockport roadworks online

by Lib Dem team on 14 January, 2016

There’s a lot going on in Stockport over the next few months. In addition to the usual Utility works that pop up all over the place, there are big improvements as part of the Investing in Stockport programme.

While every effort is being made to minimise the disruption, there are some cases where there will be delays while work is being done.

You can track the roadworks online here – so check first and don’t get caught out.

During the last 12 months the Council have dug up and re surfaced all the pavements on Cambridge Road, have made a good of it at considerable expense.
I have found today that all the pavements on one side of Cambridge Road have been dug out apparently by British Gas.
I thought that there was an agreement with the council and gas/phone/electricity companies that work would be co ordinated so that the same job would not be done twice within a year.
    Why has this happened.

Hi David – I don’t know the details, but there have been a number of gas leaks on Cambridge Road and this may be one of them. The council tries to avoid routine maintenance digging up the road, but that doesn’t apply for emergencies. If there’s a gas leak, there’s no option but to fix it.
