New post – small but worthwhile achievements

by Lib Dem team on 21 October, 2010

For the best part of a year a resident of Hawthorn Road, Gatley has been asking for a sign near the Gatley Green Co-op to be replaced.  It’s obviously taken a bash at some time and was bent.

Pam and I have been chasing this up, and now it’s been replaced.  I saw yesterday that the electricity was being sorted out (the new post has one of the signs that’s lit up at night).

It’s not a big thing, but over time it all helps.

In the same area, the Co-op have now installed a nice ramp , making it much easier for elderly and disabled people to use the shop.  I’m not sure I can claim the credit, but it did follow my asking them to do exactly that a few months ago.

We also recently installed a new streetlight on Birch Road, near Hawthorn Road.  Again at the request of a local resident, and it took a while to sort out.  The electricity’s just being sorted out at the moment (all in, that streetlight cost £1,500 to install).

There should be more news soon about work at Gatley Green.

We have a fab new streetlight on Green Close. Much better than the original and has lit up the Close a treat on dark and gloomy nights. Thanks Stockport Council! Much better!

A few less signs / bollards / street furniture would be nice… much less to maintain that way. Might help to keep the exorbitant council tax down !

    Hi Dave,

The Council is keen to reduce street clutter – if you spot any signs/street furniture that you think should be removed, let me know the details.
