Gatley graffiti reported

by Lib Dem team on 5 April, 2011

Pam and I have reported a few pieces of graffiti on the Sharston side of Gatley, including graffiti on green comms boxes on Clifton Drive, Dingle Grove, at the corner of Longley Lane and Altrincham Road and on the Council rubbish bin at the bus stop outside 73 Altrincham Road.

If you see graffiti around Cheadle and Gatley (or anywhere else in Stockport), just email the details to streetscene@stockport.gov.uk. If it’s on council property, and sometimes even if it’s not, the Council can get it painted out or cleaned off.

Why does graffiti get so much attention. Of more pressing concern is the glut of broken glass on the streets, but nothing ever seems to be done about this. There are broken beer bottles and glasses along the length of Old Hall Road in Gatley and another pile of broken glass this morning at entrance to doctors.
With the better weather there will also be more pub users on the street outside the Horse and Farrier. From experience this can only lead to MORE glass on the streets.
Personally I find broken glass all over the streets much more offensive than graffiti.

There is no bus stop outside 73 Altrincham Road, Just a lot of dog poo which we have to clear regularly to stop our children accidently slipping in it. Together with the aforementioned glass on our pavements and the time lapse before anything is done about it, it’s clear there’s a lack of ‘maintenance’ by stockport council. Public service from our council continues to decline whilst Council Tax remains extortionate.
