Streetlights repaired in Gatley

by Lib Dem team on 29 September, 2012

After being reported by the Lib Dem team, several streetlights in the centre of Gatley and one under the railway bridge have been repaired by the Council.

We’ve reported a number of other lights for repair, including on Old Hall Road and the passageway between Belmont Road and South Park Road, Gatley.

Please do report any faulty lights you spot to us or directly to the Council.

We’re also chasing up some clanking manhole covers. They’re slightly more complicated: the Council doesn’t own them so can’t repair them. There’s an order the Council serves on the utility company responsible; but it can be very difficult getting the utility company to repair it quickly.

The road light outside Park Mount flats on Gatley Hill appears to have been vandalized – cover missing + bulb ‘drooping’ !

    Cul-de-sac – South Park Road.

The big one ine the car park between the Co-op and Gatley Glass.

The light between Belmont Road and South Park Road has been going out at least once a month for the last 3 years and we have been reporting to the council. Each time it is ‘repaired’, it fails again within weeks. Perhaps the bulb is not the problem and the council should think outside the box?

I’m sure you’re right – the lights on the passage are very old. I’ll raise the issue and see if money can be found to replace the whole lamp column; if not this year then perhaps next.

The lights in the lane between South Park Road and Belmont Road are still not working and have not worked since your original post. The main issue here is that there is no shared light in the lane and this could encourage criminal behaviour.
I have today reported this fault again to the Council and hope some action is taken. It seems ludicrous that this path is never attended to, given that it is an important and popular walking route. It’s certainly not encouraging people out of their cars.

    Hi Alan,

Unfortunately, the problem with the lights on the passageway between South Park Road and Belmont Road is due to the electricity supply rather than the lamps themselves.

The issue has been raised with Electricity Northwest to repair.
