Police have found the body of a man in the River Mersey, Cheadle near to the Waterside Hotel off Manchester Road. The body was found at about 3.10pm yesterday.
The body has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be Neil Marsom who went missing in January.
Neil Marsom from Sale was dropped off in Hazel Grove at 11am on January 3rd. Two hours later Police divers investigated another incident came across him struggling in the River Goyt near Bredbury but, despite their efforts, he became submerged and was swept downstream.
Mr Marsom, 38, was presumed drowned but his body had not been found until yesterday. Police do not believe the death to be suspicious.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to all Neil’s friends and family.
