Streetlight watch

by Lib Dem team on 5 November, 2013

As the nights draw in, we all start noticing any faulty or obscured streetlights.

If you spot a faulty streetlight, the best thing is to report it on the Council website – there’s a map to ensure you identify the right one.

I’m currently chasing up a couple of faulty lights on “conker island”, Old Hall Road, Gatley which should have been fixed by now.  I’ve also got the Council to cut back trees on Styal Road where they’re obscuring streetlights – that should be happening in the next week or two.

A couple of months ago, we got a tree cut back on the pathway to Marchbank Drive, Cheadle where it was obscuring a streetlight.

Let us know if there’s a light that isn’t getting fixed.

Thank you for the link to map That will help when I report in future
I have recently reported several out of order they seem to have a back log with the e-mails and they are busy with repairs so it is taking longer to get them repaired

The new lights on Schools Hill are not as bright as the old ones, but OK when all in working order.
NB Some of the lights are ‘blocked’ by overhanging trees
Are there any plans to lop tree branches on Schools Hill?

What about the lights coming off the motorway from Stockport onto the South Park Rosd Estate which haven’t worked for months. Its very dangerous. A lot of them are not working. I suppose there will be the usual argument as to who they belong to so in the end NOTHING gets done

    Hi Ruth,

There’s no argument – they belong to the Highways Agency.

I’ll contact them, and you can get in touch too: their number and email are at http://www.highways.gov.uk/about-us/contact-us/

Ian there is a light out next to the railway bridge leading from the lakes esate upto Firswood mount. I did report this to the council, it would appear someone has cleared the over groeth back but the light is still broken. It would appear the light cove and bulb itself have been smashed. It is very dark walking through here.
