Bonfire night Area Committee round-up

by Lib Dem team on 6 November, 2013

An unusually quick Cheadle Area Committee on November 5th – all over in under 90 minutes (Area Committee meetings tend to last a lot longer when there are contentious planning applications. At this meeting there were two application, but neither had anyone along to oppose them).

  • Planning application 53091 for the regeneration and improvement of Cheadle Green was approved (this has been brought by the Cheadle Civic Society and well-consulted on over the last year or more).
  • Planning application 53220 for 12 new houses on the site of the former Greyhound pub, Ladybridge Road, Cheadle Hulme granted.
  • Application for Cheadle Victorian Christmas Markets on 7th December granted, and we also put £1000 into the event at the request of the organisers.
  • No changes to polling districts or polling stations recommended by the committee as part of the review (they aren’t perfect, but we don’t have anything better).
  • We agreed to slightly move the new puffin crossing planned to go near Boots on the High Street.  The previous location would have caused problems for loading, particularly to the pub, so it moves a few meters along the road.
  • Double yellow lines at the junction of The Mews and Springfield Road approved – they’ll now be legally advertised.
  • Application for the use of Abney Hall Park Playing Field for a Christmas wreath making and carol concert on 7th and 8th December approved.
  • Application for the use of Diamond Jubilee Park for a nativity and carol service on 24th December (organised by St Cuthberts) approved.
