Police issue guidance for reporting the misuse of off-road bikes

by Lib Dem team on 11 June, 2014

The local Police are tackling the problem of misused off-road bikes and the problems they cause local residents. They’ve issued advice to residents on reporting incidents:

Are off-road bikes making your life a misery?

Call Greater Manchester Police on 101 and report the incident providing the following details:

  • Description of who is riding the bike
  • Where the bike is being used
  • When is it being used (time of day, e.g. evening, daytime, weekend)
  • Details about the vehicle (e.g. make, model, colour)
  • Who owns the vehicle (if known)
  • Where the bike is being stored

The Police do often have a good idea of who the people are riding off-road bikes illegally and will warn them – if sufficient evidence to prosecute can be secured then further action can be taken, including bikes being seized and crushed.

In recent weeks there have been at least two quad bikes ridden frequently and very noisily around Gatley. Can anything be done about them.
