Keith to meet with Barclays on Monday

by Lib Dem team on 7 July, 2015

Councillor Keith Holloway’s campaign to get Barclays to think again about closing Gatley’s last bank will see him, along with a member of Gatley Village Partnership, meet Barclays on Monday 13th July.

Keith says “Barclays Community Leader Jason Clarke has now agreed to meet with myself and one of the Gatley village partnership committee members on Monday of next week (13 July), when we will explain the depth of concern that the Barclays proposal has raised across the Gatley community, and ask them to think again and work with us all to explore options that could retain a banking presence in the village.”

The support amazing support from local residents has been absolutely essential for Keith’s campaign. Over 1,000 signatures on the petition along with lots of people getting in touch to tell us their stories about how the bank closure will affect them or their relatives.

We hope Barclays will take notice of the strength of local feeling and take another look.

I am delighted that you are going to meet as, having been at the bank for 46 years, I HATE the thought of having to go to Cheadle to do my banking. But I have a feeling that it will simply be a waste of time as the decision has been made “High Up” and customers needs are the last thing they are thinking about. The only concern is profit for the Shareholders. I spoke to the complaints dept and the lady on the phone line at the Department agreed with me that the only other concern is to force people to do all their banking online.
