Cheadle and Gatley planning application round-up

by Lib Dem team on 17 May, 2016

A few planning applications coming up for our area.

  • 61916 – demolition of building at 5 Ashfield Road (Hooked, formerly Jacksons Supper Bar) and replacement with four apartments. We’re told that this is not a done deal and, should the applicant decided to go ahead, Hooked would likely relocate to another location in Cheadle village.
  • 61890 – change of use for 17 Wilmslow Road (at junction of Chapel Street) from newsagents to nail bar.
  • 61491 – change to shopfront window and door at 14 Church Road, Gatley
  • 61571 – new shopfront for Boots, 32 High Street, Cheadle

You can find planning applications on the map on the council website here (just tick to say whether you want to see just applications from the last month or all from the last three years).

Sad news that the news agents have gone.

    • Ian says:

Agreed Robert it has been on the cards for some time and you do have to feel for the owners as Tesco and the misery crew at the Post office have cut into his core business..how many nail bars and E cig businesses can the people of Cheadle Support.??

  2. Robert Cohen says:

It’s a shame that planning has no teeth. Granting tes-con and wh smyth permission to trade with exceptions – such as news papers etc – would have been a great way to control these giants! High rents don’t help either!

  3. Margaret Cummins says:

As I understand it, the Lease Holders were pushing the cost beyond reasonable on the Newsagents Another old established business lost for Cheadle, (which incidentally we did use every day and will miss greatly) and PLEASE, not another nail bar.

  4. Rick says:

Cheadle News is still operating and continue to provide a newspaper delivery service but is now located in Bramhall.

Les and Wendy are now based at the NISA Local, Trading as Bridge Lane News, 1, Bridge Lane, Bramhall, SK7 3AB. Tel No 0161 439 4982.

I still get my newspapers delivered as before but do miss having them in Cheadle.

I do my own nails so will not be a customer of the new proprietors business!!

    Rick.

I noticed an application to change the recently closed Cooperative Store on Cheadle High St into licensed premises, do we know if it will be a Restaurant or a bar/wine bar ? Regards
