In 1973 Stockport had all-up elections at its inception. In 1975, the elected councillor with the fewest votes was up again. Here are the results.
Paul Porgess is still plugging away in Heald Green in 1975 and the I Roberts standing for the Conservatives in Adswood and Cale Green isn’t me – I was in nappies at the time.

Cor blimey – Leonard Singer wasn’t half popular in Cheadle & Gatley
The I Roberts was another Ian, I think. I recall he eventually got elected somewhere (may even have been Cheadle)
Indeed – it’s Ian Roberts who was a councillor in various places and is currently chair of Kingsway school governors and involved in running the Youth Club at Gatley Hill House.
