We’ve reached 1998 in my review of Stockport’s local election results from 1974 onwards.

The Lib Dems took a second seat in Cheadle ward and the Conservatives won back Bramhall East, beating Brian Millard.  Current councillors Shan Alexander and Margaret McLay won in 1998.  Sue Derbyshire, who currently holds the finance portfolio on Stockport’s Executive, came second in Manor.

Dave Goddard and Patsy Calton comfortably held their seats in South Reddish and West Bramhall.
