At Tuesday’s Cheadle Area Committee, councillors approved spending just over £25,000 from local developments in new play equipment for Gatley Recreation Ground.
The new equipment will replace the ageing slide and climbing frame, and include an improved safety surface on the ground.
We’re also looking for ways to fund an improvement to the tennis/basketball court area. Resurfacing and refencing that will cost around £40,000 which the Council doesn’t have, so we’re looking at the possibility of securing external grants.

Cant wait to take the grand children! Nice little park already.
Brilliant news. My children love the park and I spend half of my life there! When will this take place?
So happy for the people of Gatley, but would ask when the spaces in the Jubilee Park Cheadle to be filled. No climbing frame here, just a space, although we do appreciate the soft ground areas.
Hi Margaret,
The money for play equipment comes from local developments and has to be spent near to the development. Jubilee Park has some, which will be put to good use.
