Thankfully the effect seems to be much more localised than last time, with relatively few houses experiencing a loss of water or low pressure, but the latest burst water main on Foxland Road is still causing problems.
A few weeks ago a burst main saw most of Gatley with no water or low pressure for the morning, with Gatley Primary and Lum Head both closing for the day.
After that, United Utilities told us they’d identified the problem as a faulty pressure valve on St Anne’s Road North and they were going to repair it.
Clearly that repair hasn’t worked. The latest leak – opposite the junction of Delamere Road and Foxland – is another one pushing the pavement up.
We’ve spoken again to United Utilities. They tell us they’re going to completely replace the 50 year old problem valve and pipes in the next few weeks.
We’ll be closely monitoring progress – enough is enough!

There appears to be another problem – water is coming up from a couple of UU grids/manholes at the bottom of Silverdale
There is now a burst main on Savill Road too. Will report as soon as home!
