A planning application has been submitted to the council to add a new storey to the shops/flats on Silverdale Road next to the High Grove pub, created six new flats across the top. The planning application is 58292 – you can see it here and make your comments.

First of all this property is an eye-sore! and should be cleaned up front and back before admitting any future applications.
I agree, it needs a full refurb… is that included in the planning? People need confirmation.
The garages at the back are just asking for kids to be wreckless and form a meeting place for trouble
I agree with the two comments above, the building is in a poor state of repair and has been neglected. The back in particular is very bad. This should be brought to the attention of the planning committee, who should defer a decision until this situation is addressed, in my opinion.
Yet more traffic on Silverdale!
The property has been totally neglected for several years & left to deteriorate. Total eyesore with inadequate parking even for the few businesses. The rear garages are
falling down & surely the existing premises need money spending on them rather than being further developed.
Echo the concerns about further traffic on Silverdale
Only two trading shops in the whole row and the remainder being offices and one quiet take away. It would be sensible for the owners to buy out the leases. Then demolish or refurb the whole site. Then maybe add another story after demolishing the garages. This was mostly carried out at Haddon Road and enhanced the area tremendously.
What’s the latest on this? The link to the planning application no longer works.
Surely the state of these flats will make it harder to sell the new houses being built on the former High Grove Pub site.
Hi Christian, we don’t have any special information. The planning application was granted, and it’s up to the owner whether the work is done or not.
