Cheadle Area Committee, 25th Jan 2011

by Lib Dem team on 18 January, 2011

Next week is Area Committee week in Stockport. Cheadle Area Committee is on Tuesday 25th January 2011 at the Ladybridge Park Residents Club, Edenbridge Road, Cheadle Hulme.

Members of the public can ask questions of councillors, but they have to be raised in advance (of course, you can ask Pam and I questions any time – just email, phone or write!).

In addition to the usual opportunity for councillors and members of the public to hear updates from the police and environmental people, and to ask questions and raise issues, here are the main issues being discussed:

  • Planning application DC045897 – a two-storey side and rear extension to 64 High Grove Road, Cheadle.
  • A discussion on obstructions to the highway (mainly A-boards and similar that some shops and businesses put out and can block the pavement).  This was first brought to our December Area Committee, but postponed as we knew some councillors with an interest weren’t able to attend that meeting.
  • A report on the activities of the Communities, Regeneration and Environment Directorate, which may sound dull but covers lots of things people care about including how the Council is dealing with dog fouling, trading standards, taxi licensing, underage sales of alcohol, fly-tipping and the community toilet scheme.

    Hi Ian,

I recently spotted an application for the Red Lion, Gatley in cheadle Library which has been there a while. My impression of the application is that it was submitted for continued use, with some alterations to the building. However, the architects drawings shows what looks to me like a shop frontage with lowering of the existing windows, signage and other things that make me think s food retail store (Tesco?) will be coming to Gatley via the back door, while everybody is focussed on Tatton. I e-mailed the applicant for confirmation of their intentions and have not had a reply. Are you ‘in the know’ on this one?

    Regards

    Richard
