The residents’ consultation on improvements to Gatley Green goes out next week, and we’ll post the full proposals then.
These come on top of the full relaying of the pavement along the south-east side of Church Road (from the old Nat West up to the Prince of Wales), which the Lib Dems have secured and will be done around February/March next year.
The proposals for Gatley Green include blocking off the cut-through road to make one piece of greenspace that includes the war memorial, some residents parking (but with parking for shoppers permitted during the daytime) and improvements to pavements. There are quite a few other parts too.
The plan, once the proposals are agreed, is to do this work next spring/summer.

Concerning the cut-through road ‘across’ Gatley Green…
YES… block it off, dig it up, grass it over and replant the beech hedge along the new alignment. That done, would it not make sense to turn around (by 180 degrees) the war memorial ? put in a path leading up to it from the flower circle in the middle of the green thereby creating a safe and pleasant viewing area.
