Last year the Lib Dems worked with the residents on Depleach Road, Cheadle to look for a solution to parking problems.

The issue was, and is, that inconsiderate drivers are parking in Depleach Road in such a way as to partially block driveways and make it very difficult for residents to get in and out of their driveways.

We got white H-lines put down across driveways and hoped that would work as well as it generally does elsewhere.

Residents have now asked for more to be done as it isn’t working and the problems remain.

The Lib Dems have now asked Council officers to take a closer look and come up with some proposals to improve the situation.  Although some residents are asking for residents’ permit parking, that doesn’t meet the Council’s policy (in the past there were some roads given permit permit under a previous policy, but that’s now been changed).

We think that, if there are sections of the road that shouldn’t be parked on, then we need to stop people parking there and having someone parking with a permit is little better than having someone parking without.

There is a real problem at the moment and we look forward to the proposals coming from the Council, which will be fully consulted on with residents.
