Stockport Council have said that, for the next week only (i.e. until the first round of black bin collections are completed), additional bags of rubbish will be collected alongside black wheelie bins.
If you have too much non-recyclable rubbish to fit in your black bin, fill the bin up (making sure the lid can close) and leave any additional bags of rubbish next to it on your new bin day, which you can find from the online calendar here.
The Council has also apologised that stickers on the black bins were less than clear – giving the impression that the previous collection arrangements continued up to the day before each person’s first new collection (in reality they ended on 29th October. The letter sent to residents had the correct information, the sticker on the bins did not).
These teething problems will hopefully be resolved, in a new system that will save Stockport taxpayers over £600,000 a year and improve our recycling.

I agree with recycling, but it is difficult, every bit of rubbish in my home i have to think which bin it goes in. I am constantly going out with my rubbish putting it in the correct bin, so much so my kitchen has piles of rubbish for each bin. It is driving me crazy. I put bin sacks out last week, thank god for bonfire night.Bin men did not collect my bin bags, but did empty my black bin. If only I was told that my rubbish in sacks could have gone in the black bin.
