Councillors allowances not up 5% – or any percent

There’s an article in the Stockport Times this week from a Peter Rowe of Bramhall, claiming that councillors allowances have risen by 5% this year. Sadly for my bank balance, Mr Rowe is mistaken.  Councillors’ allowances are linked to council pay.  Last year they increased by 1%, this year not at all.
