Stockport Air Raid Shelters has gained a prestigious award for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Manchester Tourism awards 2010. The panel of judges said that ‘the shelters are truly unique and a great asset within Stockport’s visitor attraction offer.’ The Manchester Tourism awards were organised by Marketing Manchester, the agency charged with promoting Manchester on a national and international stage.

The awards are supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency. By winning this award Stockport Air Raid Shelters will in the autumn represent Greater Manchester in the England’s North West Regional Awards competing against the winners from Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Liverpool and Merseyside in the category of Best Small Visitor Attraction. The winner qualifies for a place at the subsequent National Awards.
