The Stockport Express has published two letters about councillor expenses this week.
One, from Robert Whalley, makes (again) the completely false claim that councillors have awarded ourselves a 5% increase in our allowances.
The increase this year was zero, last year was one percent. The 5% claim is simply untrue.
Then we have a letter from Eric Kime suggesting (I think – it’s not entirely clear) that no councillor should have any allowance at all. It’s a lovely idea, but many of us – myself included – simply couldn’t afford to do the job without some form of financial compensation.
I do feel strongly that councillors should get no increase in our allowances whilst council employees also have a pay freeze.

Eric Kime was a proper Liberal though, so perhaps that’s why you can’t understand him.
I was hoping we could avoid personal insults and have a sensible debate – oh well.
No, William, when I read Eric’s letter I was unclear whether he’s suggesting councillors take a cut in allowance or whether the allowance be scrapped altogether.
I very much doubt my confusion is over whether or not Mr Kime was once a proper liberal.

How can you moan about a report that lies, following the meeting with regards to the Closure of Avondale Leisure, The council constantly lie or make it up as they go along, No wonder the general public have no faith in anything the goverment or local councillor say.
The just like you read through my head! You appear to understanding a great deal about this, as you authored the actual e-book in it or something like that. I feel which can be done with a few p. h. drive an automobile the content dwelling a little, although besides that, that would be amazing blog. An excellent read through.
