Children talk, libraries listen

by Lib Dem team on 30 September, 2010

From Stockport Council:

Stockport Council’s Library Service is carrying out a survey asking children and young people what they think of their local library. The survey will take place between October 4th -16th in all libraries in the borough.

All children aged up to 15 years visiting a library during this time will be invited to complete a straightforward questionnaire. Parents and carers can complete the questionnaire for very young children and help will be given to anyone requiring it.

It is three years since young people were asked for their views on the service. The previous survey revealed that children had a very positive view of Stockport libraries and library staff. Young people have strong involvement with libraries – the Summer Reading Challenge was a success and children’s fiction loans in August 2010 showed a 9% point increase on the previous August and the highest since 2000.

For more information about the survey contact Kathy Oluwi, Performance and Improvement Officer, Libraries, Advice and Information on 0161 474 5750 or email kathy.oluwi@stockport.gov.uk.
