Lines painted at the top of Schools Hill

by Lib Dem team on 3 October, 2010

I was very pleased to see that the lines at the top of Schools Hill (around the junction with Turnfield Drive) have now all been repainted, including the centre lines, bus stop lines and parking bay lines.

This is something Pam and I asked for a while back.  At first, due to an error, only the Turnfield junction lines were done.

We’re still waiting for the double yellow lines to go down at the junction of Daylesford Crescent and Schools Hill – I’ll be chasing that tomorrow.

There’s also something odd happening with the pooling at the bottom of Schools Hill that I can’t explain.  Work was done on it earlier in the year, but a few weeks ago we noticed the pooling seems to be back by the junction with Wilmslow Road.  But when I passed today – after two days of hard rain – nothing!  If anyone has an explanation for why the water sometimes drains away and sometimes doesn’t, please let me know.

    Hi Iain,
I agree with what you saw, and then today…oh my, after the deluge overnight it was really bad again. They had cctv down there at Kingston Hill 2-3 days this last week so when it seemed Ok I thought they’d cracked it – until today.
I really do wonder about the grid near the bottom of the hill adjacent to the grass verge – have they actually cleared or rodded that one?

I forgot to mention that my neighbour here in Tumblewood Drive asked me to say that the traffic seems to have been sent from further up the Hill to nearer the bottom. As a result it is sometimes difficult to get a decent sight-line when exiting Brackenwood Drive onto Schools Hill. She thought they’d already done the double yellows you mention. Perhaps we need some near Brackenwood as well?
Thanks Iain for all you are doing to keep us informed.

Iain the important thing is that when SMBC spends money on these measures, they need to be ENFORCED. So the traffic guys have to commit to going up there, one random day a week and booking people (and there will be many) who are breaking the law.

Double yellow lines! Thought they weren’t needed. If it turns out they are can we have them on the High Street etc!!
