The Manchester Airport site is reporting planned closures to the M56 in both directions from junctions 9 to 6 for the next two weekends, with the slip road at junction 7 closed for the whole week.
UPDATE: The section of the M56 between junctions 6 and 9 will now be closed for a third weekend: from the evening of Friday 29th October to 5am on Monday 1st November. The closure over the weekend of Friday 22nd – Monday 25th October will now only be to the Eastbound carriageway between junctions 6 and 9.
I assume this means that the slip road at junction 7 will now be closed until 1st November.
As the Manchester Airport site reports:
This weekend we successfully demolished Bowdon View bridge. However engineers were unable to complete the construction of a pillar in the centre of the motorway to support the new bridge. This means we will have to extend work into a third weekend.
The Manchester Airport website also has some nice PDFs showing suggested diversions.
