At yesterday’s Cheadle Area Committee we received an update on the flooding issues (suspected to be problems with culverts) on Ladybridge Road in Cheadle Hulme and around the Broadway/Wilsmlow Road area of Cheadle.
There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes, with the big problem (as usual, I have to say) being to get the Council and United Utilities to agree between them who’s responsible for certain elements that may be causing the problem.
Residents and councillors were able to ask questions, and several from around Ladybridge Road did so.
Next month Kevin Melling from Stockport Council will be attending to give us a further update. The councillors, along with local MP Mark Hunter, are working to get the various organisations (Council, United Utilities, Environment Agency) together to get this sorted.

dear Ian
Why did the Council tar and stone the roads in the borough even though tht roads were in good condition, after which the top layer of stone found its way into road grids which reduced the capacity of the dranage system in heavy rain.
I reported a grid outside my house on Gatley Road and when the council eventualy came to clean it out, they only did the one grid(which took 5 minutes to do after which the vehicle sat idle for a further 40 minutes enough time to clean/cklear all the grids on Gatley road)Pleasae pay more attention to effects of so called improvments?
