Minister for Children & Families shadows children’s social care teams

by Lib Dem team on 13 October, 2010

From Stockport Council:

Tim Loughton, Minister for Children and Families, shadowed Stockport Council front line social workers for a week in their daily meetings and visits, to get more of a feel for the complex nature of today’s child protection services in a busy metropolitan local authority. More information and Mr Loughton’s comments on the visit can be found here.

    Dear Sir

I am not sure if this is the right way to contact you but I feel very strongly about Mothers being encouraged and HELPED FINANCIALLY to work. (Help with Nursery fees etc.).

Mothers with babies and young children should be helped financially TO STAY AT HOME to look after their babies.

These poor little souls often have to be woken up, dragged out in the cold, and, as with my granddaughter, feeling unwell. Babies and young children, NEED THEIR MUMMIES.

If money can be found to help send Mothers out to work, give it to them to stay at home where they should be for the benefit, especially long-term, for all concerned.

I have worked for the NHS and observed Mothers at work with babies : their hearts and concerns are, naturally, ‘at home’.

    Thank you

    Pam Avent
