Stockport’s famous landmarks will be switching off their lights on 10th October 2010 in support of the global ‘10:10’ carbon reduction campaign and Stockport Council’s CarbON-CarbOFF initiative.
Stockport Town Hall, the Viaduct and the Co-operative Pyramid building will all be joining in to pledge their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.
As part of the CarbON-CarbOFF campaign, Stockport Council has committed to reduce its carbon footprint by 10% and is encouraging local businesses and residents to do the same.
Schools in Stockport will also be taking part in Walk to School Month in October, encouraging pupils to get involved and do their bit for the environment.
