Stockport Market 750 goes out with a bang

by Lib Dem team on 22 October, 2010

From Stockport Council:

This weekend sees the spectacular finale of Stockport Market’s 750th anniversary celebrations.

There will be two days of family-friendly events at Stockport Market, starting on Saturday (10am – 4pm) with St Wilfrid’s Medieval Market. There will be strolling performances, thrilling shows, medieval street swindles and the occasional public execution!

On Sunday (12.30pm – 6.15pm), come and experience St Wilfrid’s Medieval Village including a living history encampment and parade.

The weekend’s celebrations will culminate in a fantastic fire and light show, choreographed to music to create an unmissable crescendo to the Market’s landmark anniversary.

I’d suggest that we put all the Euro MP’s and all the unelected commissioners (that would be all of them, no democracy in their job descriptions!) in to the next round of public executions in Stockport, or well, anywhere really!

One or two exceptions will be those who want to get us good British people out of this self aggrandising useless organisation that no one I know wants us to stay in, apart from the politicians whose gravy train will be upset! Trade and environmental agreements I agree with, but all this political union nonsense costs us tax payers very dearly. AND before you ask, NO I’m not a member of any political party or have any affiliations with any groups of any description. I’m just a humble tax paying voter fed up to the back teeth with let’s fly a flag for the “European” money to build x, y or z project. IT IS OUR MONEY not Europe’s, we are net contributors to this whole utterly shambolic excuse of a so called European parliament. Let’s get out of it asap.

I could go into detail about many things including the deluge of EU “Edicts” that instantly become law in the UK with zero ability for our MP’s to debate and decide if they are needed, but I’ve got a crust to earn to pay for the bankers Champaign, the Euro MP’s inflated salaries and expenses, all the required language translators salaries and expenses, our own MP’s salaries and expenses and the odd Moat that some of them appear to need.

All pro EU comments welcomed. I’ve not seen one argument in favour that stands up to scrutiny.

Enjoy your day, my little rant is over!

I’m in awe of your using a post on Stockport market’s 750th bithday celebrations as an excuse for an anti-EU post.
