The “Red Lion” BP garage on Stockport Road, Cheadle has been ordered to remove the stand-alone cash machine erected in the forecourt.
The garage installed the cash machine without applying for planning permission. Local residents came to Pam and myself and we asked the Council’s planning officers to look into it.
They’ve now come back and said there’s no planning permission and it would be unlikely to be granted if applied for, so the cash machine has to go by 3rd January 2011 or enforcement action will be taken.

I live on frances street and can see the cash machine . just to let you know that it’s still there!!
An update on this, and it’s frustrating news.
The cash machine people have come back to the Council with evidence that, were action to be taken, a planning inspector would side with them on appeal and the cash machine would stay.
This is an issue with planning law – the Council’s enforcement team were keen to get it sorted, but for now it looks like that isn’t possible.
