At Cheadle Area Committee on Tuesday we voted for an additional section of double yellow lines on Oakwood Avenue, Gatley.
The new lines run from The Hollies up to the junction with Beech Avenue, on the north side and, we hope, will stop cars parking on the bend.
The cost of painting the lines is £115, but the legal costs are £400 – with small areas of line painting the legal costs (principally advertising across Stockport) normally exceed the cost of actually doing the job.
Here’s a Google map of the location (note that Google maps wrongly labels the station end of Oakwood Avenue as Cambridge Road).

We had yellow lines repainted on Cambridge Road, Gatley last summer. Due to parked cars they could not complete the repainting on the sharp bend or at the top of Cambridge going onto Gatley Road. I contacted Stockport Direct in September to ask if this was going to be done as drivers were ignoring faded lines. This was going to be done in November, not done, so contacted them again January 10 and they were to pass it on again. Maybe a nudge from you could push this along. As you know parking is bad enough without them parking illegally. Thanks Anne
Hi Anne,
Pam and I will chase it up – that should be done.
