The police were out in force on the South Park Road Estate this morning, handing out fines to motorists using it to perform an illegal u-turn onto Kingsway northbound.
Pam and I have been contacted by several residents pleased at the action, and we’ve passed our thanks onto the police .
Here are a couple of photos of the police in action.
This is not a new traffic restriction – the estate has been “access only” forever. The police are simply enforcing the law as it’s always been (or for many years, at least).
Excellent action by the local bobbies.
Once the word gets around that they’ve been around, folk will steer clear. And only periodic returns will be needed.
My only worrry (and it is a real worry) is that this will create more dangerous u-turning at the Gatley Road lights.
Resident of Braystan Gardens- thanks for your support but will this be a ‘one off’. the police should have been enforcing this traffic act for the past 10 yrs. I hope they will inforce the new right of way when it is finally set out at the Kingsway turning?

About time What about installing cameras?
I hope this is not a one off.
On 2 occasions this last month cars have pulled out of the slip road without stopping could have been a nasty accident but I always slow down when approaching.
Good to see police taking action but it needs to be more regular. Someone ‘overtook’ me at the junction as I waited to pull onto Kingsway. Not only do they cut through our estate but they are impatient as well!
It needs to be done once a week otherwise there will be no difference to the amount of traffic coming through the front of the estate
