Police report for Gatley

by Lib Dem team on 26 August, 2011

PC Dave Wright (Heald Green) and PC Mark Shaw (Gatley) came to Cheadle Area Committee on Tuesday to give us an update on their activities in the area. On this occasion, we didn’t have someone from Cheadle – it depends who the police can spare to send along on a particular evening. Although we didn’t get a Cheadle update this time, we will shortly.

The police have been busy with the rioting in recent weeks. In Stockport we didn’t have any real trouble – a lot of intelligence work was done, some groups of potential rioters were met and sent home and parents were visited. We thanked the police for their work.

Gatley has seen a very slight increase in criminal damage for the year to date (4% up). Good news though – the figures for August so far are 87% down (one incident compared to eight for the same period last year). Robbery (i.e. theft with actual violence or the threat of violence) is down 40%, whereas burglary levels remain the same.

Heald Green has seen criminal damage down 11% (down from 45 incidents last year to 40 this year). Robbery is down 25% from eight incidents to six. Burglaries remain the same (31 for the year to date).
