UPDATE: The Cheadle Jubilee celebrations will be all day on Saturday 2nd June 2012 on Ashfield Road and the Jubilee Fields (at the southern end of Ashfield Road). Parking in the village car parks is free all day and there’s lots to do.
This evening was the first meeting to kick off the planning for Cheadle’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations (a big event planned for June 2nd or 3rd 2012). There were representatives from a whole range of local groups including friends of the parks, schools, scouts, army cadets and churches.
The initial plan is for a day of celebration on either Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd June 2012 with stalls, events, games, etc. on Ashfield Road and Jubilee Fields at the end of Ashfield (the southern section, when you walk past the library and past the pedestrian section).
We’re lucky to have Rev Rob Monro who’s been involved in a similar event in a previous parish, and quite a few other people who have put their names forward for the committee.
From our side, I’m sure all the councillors will be supporting the event as best we can, given that it’s the first time something like this has been tried in Cheadle.
Lots of hard work ahead, but I’m quite sure it will all be worth it to do something really special on the day that’ll live on in our minds for years to come.

Celebrating privilege ? Not very ‘Liberal’ !
A Republic campaign day please.
Don’t knock the opportunity for a good party, Robert.
re: Councillor. Methinks most folk will happily settle for an extra bank holiday. Moi ? – every day be a holiday – so long as our giros keep coming !
