Stockport Lib Dems have proposed a £100,000 boost to help tackle crime across the Borough.
£50,000 is for “target hardening” – the Neighbourhood Partnership Teams visiting vulnerable homes, conducting a security survey with residents, security marking property and raising awareness of burglary risks. It will also fund more Neigbourhood Watch signs.
A further £50,000 will be made available for residents in more vulnerable areas to decide how to spend for themselves. This will be done through “participatory budgeting”, allowing communities to decide what their priorities are and how the money can best be spent.
